The 2014 season is here!

santa_waving-cropped2Hello everyone!

Welcome to the 2014 Magic Ship of Christmas Season! This is the 39th(?) year of the sailing of the Magic Ship of Christmas in Morgan Hill and the surrounding area. This tradition has been passed on through generations of scouts and scout families and it is an honor to continue spreading Christmas joy and cheer. The Schedule Elves are already busy booking stops for the ship this season.  Please contact the elves as soon as possible to reserve your spot!

I would like to take just a moment to acknowledge all of our sponsors.  It is the amazing generosity of the people of Morgan Hill, all the volunteers, and Troop 799, that make this local Christmas tradition possible each Holiday season.  It is a joy to pilot the ship through town each year, listening to the honking horns, seeing everyone wave, and especially seeing the smiles of everyone we meet.

2013 Season Was Awesome!

11767918215_066ed4ce4a_cThanks to the great weather and the amazing generosity of the Morgan Hill Community the Magic Ship of Christmas had a great season.  It has been our privilege and joy to bring some season magic and Christmas cheer to Morgan Hill and surrounding communities.

The 2013 Season is Upon Us!

6556960227_02ca3d57a1Welcome to the 38th year of the Magic Ship of Christmas! This unique part of Morgan Hill’s Christmas tradition is getting ready to roll once again through town bringing Santa and smiles to lots of children in the Morgan Hill area. If you wish to bring the ship to your party or event, please click on the “Invite” button to contact our scheduling elves. Time slots fill up quickly for the Holidays. All proceeds from the operations of the ship directly benefit the scouts of Troop 799, here in Morgan Hill. The scouts also learn business and leadership skills as they are the operating crew for the events. We look forward to seeing you at your event!

2012 Wrap Up

The Magic Ship of Christmas made its final voyage of the 2012 season on December 23rd this year. It has been a really great season and we wish to express our joy and gratitude for all the support the ship has received from the community. It is really touching (and cool) to pilot the ship through town to our events and to witness the outpouring of support and the smiles we leave on people’s faces. Cars pull off to the side, people roll their windows down and wave, honk their horns, and shout, cheer, and wave. And it is truly something unique to Morgan Hill. We took a lot of notes and we listened to your suggestions. We already have some ideas for next season.  We can already hardly wait.  See you all in December of 2013!

The 2012 Season Is Here!

The 37th season of the Magic Ship of Christmas has begun! Please join us at the Annual Morgan Hill Holiday of Lights parade on Monterey Road in downtown Morgan Hill on December 1sth, 2012 at 5:00 PM. After Santa lights the Christmas tree he will sail to the Community Center to visit with all of the children gathered.

The Christmas season in Morgan Hill, California is a magical time that is due in part to our local tradition of the Magic Ship of Christmas. The Magic Ship is operated as a community service project by the Boy Scouts of Troop 799 with the support of our Morgan Hill Kiwanis Club. The ship spends several weeks during the holiday season sailing about town bringing cheer to local businesses, rest homes, neighborhoods and day care centers.

We wish to thank all of our previous years sponsors for our past seasons. The Magic Ship is run and maintained completely by volunteers. The proceeds from the Magic Ship (other than funds to physically maintain the ship) go to support the local Boy Scout Troop 799 to offset the cost of attending Summer Camp by the boys in the troop.

During the day on weekends in December the Magic Ship “sails” to local businesses. The Magic Ship arrives with Santa and his Boy Scout elves. Children board the ship to visit with Santa and are given a candy cane and small toy for no cost. The Boy Scouts will provide a photograph of the children with Santa for a nominal donation of $5.00 per photo if the parents so choose.

Santa can also sail to parties for a nominal donation, refer to Santa’s Schedule.
